LFA Officials React to Approval of Benlysta® for Treatment of Systemic Lupus

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Benlysta® for the treatment of systemic lupus. Benlysta is the first drug to be approved for lupus in more than 52 years and the first approved therapy that was developed specifically for lupus. Officials of the Lupus Foundation of America are pleased with the FDA’s decision. In this video, Dr. Gary Gilkeson, Chair of the LFA Medical-Scientific Advisory Council, and Dr. Joan Merrill, LFA Medical Director, comment on the significance of this development, as well as recognize the contributions of the people with lupus, health professionals, and industry representatives who worked tirelessly over many years to develop Benlysta.
